How to upgrade

Every step happens inside the room.

Survey, removal, assembly, and commissioning all happen through the closet access door. No scaffolding, no lifts, no exterior trades, and no permit for the envelope.
1

Survey and Qualify

The VTAC Retrofit Questionnaire is completed with your AIIR rep, matches the wall sleeve to one of 8 transition collars, confirms power and drain, and reviews the closet opening and unit access panel.

2

Remove the Old VTAC

The old unit slides out through the closet door. The exterior louver, wall sleeve, branch circuit, and 3/4" condensate drain all stay. Nothing is cut, patched, or added outside.

3

Assemble in the Closet

Components flat-pack through the existing doorway. Once assembled, the plenum and transition collar are placed in the closet and fitted to the existing sleeve and louver.

4

Set, Connect, Commission

The AIIR unit sits in the plenum base pan, secured by two tool-less brackets, and reconnects to existing power and drain. Supply air delivers through the AIIR door or a wall-mounted louver. No specialized labor.

Why Act Now

Every VTAC failure costs $3,000+ in lost room revenue while special-order replacements run 4-6 week lead times, and a like-for-like reorder locks in 10+ years of the same energy waste and callbacks.

Fits These VTAC Platforms

Eight collar sizes cover 78 models across six OEM platforms. The sleeve determines the collar. IslandAire EZ installs typically reuse a Friedrich or GE sleeve.
